Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment to the community. The first line of his family was that Selmon is the eldest of nine kids raised in Eufala through Lucious Selmon. Two soccer. He is one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers all made All-America. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. During his three years as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national championships. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree as a teacher. Fourth year of the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. He settled down in Tampa after college, playing for the Buccaneers for nine seasons and played three times in the all-pro league. His career in business began. The first position he held was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the ten outstanding young people across the country. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs during his time playing college football. He was a captain in 1975. led the group. In 1993 he joined his current position at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
