Selena Marie Gomez was born on July 22 on 1992 in Grand Prairie, Texas,[1] to Ricardo Joel Gomez and Texas-born[2stage actor Mandy Teefey. She is named Selena Quintanilla after the Tejano artist who passed away in the year 1996. Her mother is Italian and her father, a Mexican, was born in Mexico. Gomez's grandparents came to Texas in the late 1970s, from Monterrey.
